The Iowa Lakes Corridor region is striving to become recognized as the most attractive region in Iowa for entrepreneurs and new ventures. We believe entrepreneurship is key to our long-term economic vitality and have made it a top priority for the region. Entrepreneurship is economic development. We have a specific goal to help start and grow existing companies each and every year.
According to the Kauffman Foundation, the Foundation of Entrepreneurship, 79% of Americans say entrepreneurs are critically important to job creation, ranking higher than big business, scientists, and government. We agree.
We promote entrepreneurship at all age levels, starting with Junior Achievement in elementary grades, to an annual middle school entrepreneurship academy, the annual Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute for Iowa college students, and training and one-on-coaching, counseling and technical assistance for all entrepreneurs. We sponsor the Innovation Pavilion at the world's greatest county fair, the Clay County Fair, each September.
Entrepreneurs in the Iowa Lakes Corridor region have a network of entrepreneurs, mentors, and service providers to support them. Check out the information included on our website to learn more or feel free to contact the Iowa Lakes Corridor for further assistance.
