County Youth Program Coordinator

30% of time dedicated to Associate Educator II Providing Direction for all K-12 Outreach Programming: • Coordinates with the County Staff, YPS and Council to implement program strategies for a complex program area. • Provides and communicates vision and direction for local county program in the assigned program area. • Provides leadership and program-related support to program coordinators and key volunteers at a county level through strategic planning, training and/or mentoring. • Provides input to the office manager on professional development opportunities aligning with program goals. • Provides input to the office manager for program resource allocation in the program area assigned. • Reports to key stakeholders on program area impacts. • Has an understanding of and uses current technology, and demonstrates best practices for program coordination. • Involved in regional or state-wide partnerships or programs. 70% of time dedicated to Youth Animal Science, Citizenship and Leadership Programming and 4-H Community Clubs: • Coordinates programming of a specific area at a county level in accordance with all appropriate state program mission statements and the program goals of the district. • Cooperates and informs Executive Director, Extension Council, the community, and key stakeholders of program impact. • Creates a positive working relationship with staff, volunteers and clients in assigned program areas. • Follows appropriate fiscal management for program needs. Coordinates program delivery using routine or innovative approved sources and materials, matching relevant information and programs with audience needs. • Participates in needs assessment activities. • Completes media releases and reports to the Office Manager and Council as required. • Effectively develops comprehensive and complex partnerships within and outside of Extension. • Effectively prioritizes planning time for program delivery, planning, promotion and evaluation. • Successful in building capacity through appropriate task delegation and volunteer support to achieve program impact goals. • Secures volunteers, contracts, grants, and sponsors to support identified needs and appropriately administers those resources. • Participates in local area networks and coalitions on behalf of the local office to build organizational and community capacity. • Effectively delivers approved curriculum using innovative and creative approaches under the direction of appropriate ISU Extension Program Staff. • Sets goals related to reaching targeted under-served and under-represented audiences. • Develops and advocates for programming of scope, with a vision for long-term impact.
The staff member in this position is an employee of the Clay County Extension Council. In accordance with ISU Extension and Outreach policy, a full background check will be conducted before employment begins and as often as required or necessary. To give the council an opportunity to evaluate the employee’s interest and ability to perform effectively, district-funded employees are subject to a six month introductory period. After six months, the council may approve the employee for regular employment. This position is for 40 hours per week. Regular hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm M-F, however, events require program staff to work some evenings and some weekend days. All program staff are given flexibility to adjust their arrival or departure to accommodate these requirements with the approval of the Office Manager. During August and September, overtime will be required and time off is limited. Please see the district personnel policy for all other information regarding overtime. This employee is eligible for paid holidays, paid time off, and other benefits as outlined in the district personnel policy. The employee will be eligible for Iowa Public Employees Retirement System and the Social Security program in accordance with program guidelines. The employee is covered under tort liability policy. Approved professional development and training opportunities will be reimbursed. Authorized travel expenses will be reimbursed.
