Pharmacist Mutual has an opening for a System Administrator. This role installs, manages, and maintains operating system and related application software. Schedules and performs application backups and disaster recovery planning. Recommends application upgrades according to performance or capacity statistics. Schedules, plans, and performs application upgrades, including coordinating the transition from Development to Testing and to Production environments. Provides monitoring and support for all systems. Systems Administrator Maintains operating system and related application software with guidance. Monitors systems and responds immediately to security or usability concerns. Reviews application and system logs and takes prompt and appropriate action. Performs smaller scope projects with minimal guidance. Essential Functions Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure uptime and performance service level agreements are achieved monthly. Complete proactive application monitoring and troubleshooting with the appropriate resolution to minimize downtime. Maintain specific servers as related to re-boots, upgrades and patches as prescribed by the server maintenance schedule. Handle licensing of specific applications promptly and in a cost effective manner. Participation has been provided in cross training activities with other Infrastructure staff to provide backup support on core applications. Provide after-hours "on-call" service. Participates in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises. Ensure timely and accurate code moves have been completed. Participates in project meetings, project plan development, and project duties as defined by the project plan. Timely and thoroughly documents all changes, actions, resolutions, new procedures, software upgrades, and incidents. Train to assist Help Desk personnel respond to general requests related to application issues in a knowledgeable manner. Ensure escalated ticket requests have been addressed per the prescribed service level agreement. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of computer systems, networking, security, and core applications. Ability to use initiative and apply innovative thinking. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation. Establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment through written and oral communication. Ability to work independently to make critical decisions and analyze complex issues. Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of all goals and objectives. Obtain and utilize sensitive information discreetly and objectively. Prepare reports/correspondence related to the work. Determine when to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.
